Gene Symbol SUZ12
Synonyms CHET9 | IMMAS | JJAZ1
Gene Description SUZ12, SUZ12 polycomb repressive complex 2 subunit, is a zinc finger protein required for the histone methyltransferase activity of polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), involved in mediating H3K27 tri-methylation and subsequent repression of PRC2 target genes, including genes involved in cell proliferation and differentiation (PMID: 15225548, PMID: 27449971, PMID: 26497635). Mutations in SUZ12 have been identified in malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (PMID: 29118384), and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms (PMID: 22053108), and JAZF1-SUZ12 fusions are associated with endometrial stromal sarcomas (PMID: 16049311).
