| Gene Description | SLC3A2, solute carrier family 3 member 2, encodes the heavy chain of the heterodimeric protein, CD98, and is a transmembrane type II protein that plays a role in the regulation of integrins and the modulation of amino acid transport, thereby contributing to various cell signaling mechanisms (PMID: 15625115, PMID: 17597067). Overexpression of Slc3a2 has been observed in a variety of tumor types including renal cell cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, biliary tract cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, osteosarcoma, and non-small cell lung cancer (PMID: 19292886, PMID: 28350098), and SLC3A2-NRG1 fusion has been identified in lung cancer (PMID: 29959202). | ||||||||||
