|Gene Description||NAMPT, nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase, is an enzyme required for glycolysis because it catalyzes the formation of nicotinamide, which is the rate-limiting step in the synthesis of NAD, and also plays a role in metabolism, stress response and aging and the soluble for of Nampt is immunosuppressive (PMID: 30631755). Overexpression of Nampt has been observed in a number of tumor types, including colorectal, ovarian, breast, gastric, thyroid, prostate, and glioma (PMID: 30631755) and is associated with shorter survival in acute myeloid leukemia (PMID: 30692102).|
