| Gene Description | CTNNA1, catenin alpha 1, encodes a protein that forms part of the E-cadherin-catenin complex and functions to bind and bundle actin filaments, thereby playing a critical role in E-cadherin-mediated cell-cell adhesion (PMID: 7568023, PMID: 14570569, PMID: 17945508). Inactivating germline variants in CTNNA1 have been reported in diffuse gastric cancer (PMID: 32051609), and decreased Ctnna1 expression, including loss of membrane localization, has been identified in multiple solid tumors (PMID: 17945508), including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PMID: 11911306), and colorectal carcinoma (PMID: 9894451). | ||||||||||
