| Gene Description | SPINK1, serine peptidase inhibitor, Kazal type 1, is a secreted trypsin inhibitor that prevents premature activation of trypsin in the pancreas, and is also involved in growth regulation (PMID: 26656134, PMID: 30778387). Germline SPINK1 mutations are associated with familial pancreatitis, and elevated Spink1 expression has been identified in a variety of cancers (PMID: 24522117, PMID: 26656134), including hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 32066292), and non-small cell lung cancer (PMID: 31788129). | ||||||||||
