Gene Description VIM, vimentin, encodes an intermediate filament protein that functions as part of the cytoskeleton and plays a role in cell migration, cell adhesion, regulation of endothelial cell sprouting, and angiogenesis (PMID: 30505430, PMID: 24387004). VIM fusions have been identified in sarcomas (PMID: 32461620) and secretory carcinomas (PMID: 32675658).
