Gene Description

DEK, DEK proto-oncogene, is a nuclear chromatin binding protein (PMID: 30412857) that plays a role in DNA repair, hematopoiesis, chromatin remodeling, gene transcription, and apoptosis (PMID: 30854097). DEK-NUP214 fusions have been observed in pediatric myeloid leukemia (PMID: 24441146) and Dek overexpression in pancreatic cancer has been correlated with poor prognosis (PMID: 30854097) and overexpression has been observed in ovarian cancer (PMID: 30412857), TNBC (PMID: 29228721), and lung cancer (PMID: 29844811).
