Gene Description

TET1, tet methylcytosine dioxygenase 1, plays a critical role in DNA demethylation, supports DNA repair, and is involved in regulation of gene expression (PMID: 29556496, PMID: 28555658). TET1 mutations have been identified in colon cancer (PMID: 22895193), fusions between TET1 and KMT2A (KMT2A-TET1) have been identified in acute myeloid leukemia (PMID: 12124344, PMID: 23100278), and TET1 promoter methylation and downregulation has been identified in multiple tumor types including lung, gastric, colorectal, breast, and renal cancers (PMID: 27225590).
