| Gene Description | SLFN11, schlafen family member 11, encodes for a protein that plays a role in inhibiting the DNA damage response by binding to and destabilizing replication protein A1, a component of the single-stranded DNA binding protein complex (PMID: 26658330). SLFN11 expression is variable among tumor types; however, SLFN11 overexpression is associated with increased sensitivity to DNA damaging agents while decreased expression is linked to resistance (PMID: 22927417, PMID: 26658330, PMID: 27708213, PMID: 32127465), and SLFN11 gene methylation has been observed in gastric cancer (PMID: 31762822). | ||||||||||
