| Gene Description | GFPT1, glutamine-fructose-6-phosphate transaminase 1, is the first rate-limiting enzyme in the hexosamine biosynthesis pathway, which catalyzes glutamine to glutamate and ammonia (PMID: 32019926, PMID: 37107691). Decreased expression has been identified in gastric cancer (PMID: 27509259) while increased expression has been identified in various cancers including pancreatic cancer (PMID: 27996048), hepatocellular carcinoma (PMID: 28186970), lung cancer (PMID: 30790354), and prostate cancer (PMID: 23720054), and GFPT1-ALK has been identified in medullary thyroid carcinoma (PMID: 26295973). | ||||||||||
