| Gene Description | MC1R, melanocortin 1 receptor, is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds to alpha-MSH and ACTH and regulates pigment production, and also plays a role in response to UV radiation and DNA repair (PMID: 24807163, PMID: 29622793, PMID: 34362555). MC1R variants have been associated with an increased risk for melanoma (PMID: 11500805, PMID: 20876876, PMID: 32898390). | ||||||||||
