| Gene Description | MXI1, MAX interactor 1, dimerization protein, encodes a basic helix-loop-helix motif transcription factor that regulates gene expression by interacting with the transcriptional co-factor Max (PMID: 7954804), including the regulation of Myc activity via transcriptional repression (PMID: 17697116, PMID: 8202517), and plays a role in the regulation of cell proliferation (PMID: 28575053). Mutations in MXI1 have been identified in prostate cancer (PMID: 9669667), MXI1 loss has been observed in prostate cancer (PMID: 9669667) and melanoma (PMID: 14559981), and fusion proteins with NUTM1 and SMC3 have been identified in small round cell malignancy of the gastroesophageal junction (PMID: 32873880) and multiple myeloma (PMID: 29453220). | ||||||||||
