Gene Description

NFE2L2, nuclear factor erythroid 2 like 2, encodes NRF2 and is a member of the Cap 'N' Collar family of transcription factors that functions to regulate antioxidant gene expression in response to stress (PMID: 25408701, PMID: 24142871) and is regulated by KEAP1 (PMID: 29615460). Overexpression of NFE2L2 has been implicated in progression of several tumor types (PMID: 24142871) and NFE2L2 gain of function mutations have been observed in lung cancer and are commonly associated with chemoresistance (PMID: 29615460).
