Gene Description

NOTCH2, notch receptor 2, is one of four Notch transmembrane receptors, that bind Delta or Jagged ligands (PMID: 30289388) and play a role in cell fate determination and differentiation, and NOTCH2 can be an oncogene or tumor suppressor depending on the tumor type (PMID: 22891276, PMID: 31218097). Overexpression of Notch2 has been observed in a number of tumor types, including gastric and brain cancers (PMID: 31218097), while NOTCH2 frameshift and nonsense mutations have been frequently reported in hematological cancers (PMID: 31218097).
