| Gene Description | OGG1, 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase, plays a role in the repair and excision of oxidatively damaged DNA bases, specifically the excision of 8-oxoguanine, via the base excision repair pathway (PMID: 17116430, PMID: 18166975, PMID: 22048164) and in the repair of mitochondrial DNA through association with Sirt3 (PMID: 23868064, PMID: 11454679). OGG1 mutations have been identified in laryngeal cancer (PMID: 22829015), clear cell carcinoma of the kidney (PMID: 10987279), and decreased expression of OGG1 has been identified in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 24622884, PMID: 22081374). | ||||||||||
