| Gene Description | RPL5, ribosomal protein L5, is part of the 60S subunit, which binds to 5S rRNA, forming a part of the 5S ribonucleoprotein complex (PMID: 11410658, PMID: 3279045), and plays a role in maintaining nucleolar integrity (PMID: 27265389), ribosome biogenesis (PMID: 17938242), and cell proliferation (PMID: 24061479). Both RPL5 mutations and loss have been associated with a number of cancers including breast cancer, skin cutaneous melanoma, and glioblastoma (PMID: 28147343), and multiple myeloma (PMID: 27909306). | ||||||||||
