| Gene Description | S100A7, S100 calcium binding protein A7, encodes a member of the S100 family, which induces an inflammatory response upon stimulation from cytokines or bacteria, potentially resulting in activation of various cellular pathways within keratinocytes and neutrophils, including the NF-kappaB and STAT3 pathways (PMID: 26055713, PMID: 19121341), and plays a role in chemotaxis (PMID: 18606705). Overexpression of S100A7 has been identified in a variety of tumor types including cervical cancer (PMID: 28212564), oral squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 27767088), hormone receptor-negative breast cancer (PMID: 10595935), and lung squamous carcinoma (PMID: 23228205). | ||||||||||
