| Gene Description | WRN, Werner syndrome RecQ helicase-like, possesses both DNA helicase and exonuclease activities, thus plays important roles in maintaining genomic stability (PMID: 27902925). Werner syndrome patients with inactivating WRN mutations are prone to cancer (PMID: 16723399), inactivation of WRN has been found in multiple cancers (PMID: 25620975), and microsatellite unstable cancers have a dependency on active WRN, suggesting it to be a therapeutic target (PMID: 30971823). | ||||||||||
