| Gene Description | PICALM, phosphatidylinositol binding clathrin assembly protein, encodes an adaptor protein that binds to clathrin, thereby playing a role in clathrin-mediated endocytosis and the regulation of protein internalization and localization at the cellular surface, including transferrin (PMID: 12832620, PMID: 22952941, PMID: 10436022). A fusion with PICALM and MLLT10 has been reported in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia (PMID: 23670296, PMID: 22871473), and somatic mutations in PICALM have been identified in follicular thyroid cancer (PMID: 27283500). | ||||||||||
