| Gene Description | NSMAF, neutral sphingomyelinase activation associated factor, encodes an adaptor protein that is a member of the WD-repeat family of proteins that forms a complex with RACK1 and the p55 TNF receptor to modulate TNF-induced activation of neutral sphingomyelinase and the production of ceramide (PMID: 12391233, PMID: 8808629) and has roles in the regulation of apoptosis, cytoskeleton remodeling, and inflammation (PMID: 20534702, PMID: 29621545, PMID: 17599063). A fusion of AKT2 and NSMAF has been identified in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PMID: 29617662). | ||||||||||
