| Gene Description | HDAC4, histone deacetylase 4, is a member of the class IIa HDAC family (PMID: 24579951, PMID: 18614528) that functions in the deacetylation of histone proteins to repress transcription of target genes, including MEF2A (PMID: 10487761, PMID: 10523670), and plays a role in muscle differentiation and development (PMID: 24579951, PMID: 11504882) and neuronal survival (PMID: 26074448 PMID: 19131628, PMID: 18498087). Increased HDAC4 expression has been observed in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (PMID: 27295551), nasopharyngeal carcinoma (PMID: 33542203), and gastric cancer (PMID: 24896240, PMID: 35637410). | ||||||||||
